| Welcome
to the MAT 1604 course offered at Hostos
Community College. This course is offered
in a hybrid mode where at least 30% of
the instruction occurs online. The purpose
of these materials is to help students
to become more comfortable with the goals
and objectives of the course.
This course is designed
to provide students with much greater access
to the instructor,
and to classmates. This increased access
enables students to develop a deeper understanding
of the topics they have worked with in
the past. Students spend time on a regular
basis learning the course content, solving
routine and challenging exercises, and
participating in online discussions with
their peers and the instructor. This provides
a way to increase student participation
in the learning process, assist students
to become more familiar with the course
content and encourage them to ask questions,
share their ideas, and self-test their
grasp of concepts outside the classroom
in a less intimidating environment.
The
development of this website was possible
due to the unconditional support received
from NETsWork through the Institute
for Schools of the Future, and the technical
support received from the Instructional
Technology Support Center of the Eugenio
Maria de Hostos Community College.
